What We Do
Improv
Free long-form improv classes occur on Mondays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (we are not associated with the church, they just allow us to use their space). Facilitated by experienced instructors, these classes explore the principles of building scenes and narratives without a predetermined script. Attendees learn to hone their listening and collaboration skills, crucial for creating cohesive and engaging long-form improv. Through various exercises and games, participants develop the ability to sustain complex storylines, build authentic characters, and adapt to unexpected twists in the narrative. These classes encourage a supportive and creative environment, fostering a sense of ensemble and the freedom to explore the limitless possibilities of unscripted performance.
Storytelling
Our storytelling workshops are a dynamic and interactive learning experience where participants explore the intricacies of crafting compelling narratives using personal experience. Participants engage in hands-on exercises to enhance their storytelling skills, fostering creativity and originality. Constructive feedback, if desired, allow individuals to refine their storytelling techniques. By the end these workshops, attendees gain a deeper understanding of storytelling methods and skills to enhance their ability to captivate audiences and speak their truth.
Artivism
Our artivism workshops are a transformative experience that combines artistic expression with activism to create social change. Participants engage in various art forms such as visual arts, performance, or multimedia to address pressing social issues. Attendees are inspired in exploring how art can be a powerful tool for activism and advocacy, fostering a deeper connection between creativity and social impact. The workshop aims to empower individuals to become artivists, bridging the gap between art and activism for a meaningful impact on society. Mediums to create socially conscious art include paintings, stories, sketches, stand-up, poetry, character monologues, or any other medium - serious or comedic - to express yourself.
